GrantEd Tutoring provides quality virtual tutoring sessions that are personalized to each students' interests, learning styles, and cultural backgrounds. We focus on building and strengthening foundational math, reading, and writing skills so that students can be critical thinkers and problem solvers. Our mission is to mitigate the achievement gap by providing supplemental instruction to students, utilizing a holistic approach. This free session is an opportunity for our staff to meet with you and your child to gauge what lessons and skills to focus on, and your child's interests and learning styles before beginning tutoring sessions.
Math sessions cover Common Core standards of: counting and cardinality, operations and algebraic thinking, number and operations in base ten, measurement and data, and geometry. Each common core standard will be explored in line with your child's grade and/or learning level.
Reading sessions cover Common Core standards of developing foundational skills and developing the ability to work with literature and informational texts. Foundational skills include understanding print concepts, phonological awareness, phonics and word recognition, and fluency. While working with different types of texts, students will learn to understand key ideas and details, craft (diction) and structure, integration of knowledge and ideas, range of reading, and level of complexity. Each common core standard will be explored in line with your child's grade and/or learning level.
Writing sessions cover common core standards to develop sophistication in language use including: vocabulary, syntax, and organization of ideas. Students will develop and strengthen writing skills to be able to support their opinions, demonstrate understanding of subjects, convey real and imagined experiences and events, develop the capacity to build knowledge through research, and respond analytically to literary and informational sources.
Small Group Tutoring
Do you know other other learners who need assistance in the same content area? This group is designed for students who find the average class size to be too large, especially in the online environment. If your child may be better suited with a small community of learners, then these group sessions are perfect for them.
Young Adult Writing Sessions
These sessions are offered in 30 minute increments. Students can choose to focus the session on: 1) sharpening writing and grammar skills, and/or 2) receiving and reviewing edits on their work
